Drug, Alcohol Addiction Serious Health Problem in Maine
Substance abuse is the nation’s number one health-related problem and the effects can be seen in Maine. Drug and alcohol addiction is the root cause of many other societal problems and it costs our country up to $500 billion each year, in addition to the thousands of lives lost, broken homes and drug-related crime. The 2005 National Survey on Drug Use and Health estimated that there are 23.5 million people in the United States that are in need of substance abuse treatment. This amounts to nearly ten percent of the total population and the rate is similar in Maine.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of different types of alcohol addiction and drug rehab treatment programs. When choosing a drug rehab center for yourself or a loved one from Maine, it is important to become educated on the different types of drug rehab and what the end results are.Types of drug rehab programs include: detoxification, outpatient counseling, short-term inpatient treatment (30-day program) and long-term residential treatment (longer than 60 days). Within these there are also medical models that use substitute drugs in the treatment process and there are drug-free programs that do not prescribe more drugs to addicts. Most drug rehab centers serving Maine have some type of aftercare or follow-up program as well.
On average for the country, approximately 90% of addicts go through outpatient treatment services instead of entering a residential rehabilitation program. Statistics show that longer-term residential treatment is overall more effective and a drug-free rehabilitation approach is better in the long run for the addict. The majority of addicts in Maine are good people without the drugs and can be helped with an effective drug and alcohol rehab program. If you or a loved one is suffering from addiction, don’t wait until it’s too late; to find out if there are any drug rehab treatment or counseling facilities serving people in Maine that are suitable for your needs.
Teen Residential Treatment and A Drug Habit
A drug habit took my son away from our family when he was only 18 years old. We didn't know at the time that he was even using drugs. We were completely oblivious to the signs and knew nothing about addiction and how an addict would act when they were using. We thought our son was just frustrated with school and dealing with finals was hard on him. If we had known he was dealing with a a drug habit maybe we could have saved his life. If we had only been aware of the signs of addiction we could have found teen residential treatment and saved our son. Please get educated on teen residential treatment it could be the best thing you ever do.
Rehab and Chemical Dependence
My father is in prison due to his chemical dependence and will be getting out next year if he makes it that long. What can I do to get him into an rehab center when he gets out on parole? I don't want him to have a chemical dependence relapse once he is free. If there an rehab center that will take him straight from prison?
Are there several different kinds of 12 steps programs or are they all the same? I'd like to get into a program but, I'm not sure where to start or if it's going to be right for me.
